Mayor Schundler and The Jersey City Municipal Court Announce Program For Third Year Law Students

Jersey City
Mayor Bret Schundler and Jersey City Municipal Court Chief Judge Vincent A. Signorile announced today that the N.J. Supreme Court has given approval for the establishment of a Criminal Justice Clinic. The Clinic enables third-year law students and graduates of American Bar Association approved law schools to appear in Municipal Court under the supervision of a licensed attorney.

The Jersey City Municipal Court, in conjunction with the Municipal Prosecutor's and the Municipal Public Defender's Offices, are seeking third-year law students and graduates for participation in this recently established program. Students will appear on a volunteer basis after a screening process with the Chief Judge and a seminar with the Municipal Prosecutor, Public Defender and Municipal Court Judges.

"This program presents a wonderful opportunity for law students to gain the type of experience that is needed to launch a productive career. I am proud to see it introduced here in Jersey City and at no extra cost to our taxpayers," Mayor Schundler said.
