Mayor Bret Schundler To Pass the Baton in Coast-To-Coast Relay For Organ Donors

Jersey City
Monday, August 7, 2000 at 10:30am, Mayor Bret Schundler and representatives from the American Red Cross will welcome the Millennium Mayorthon Bus at the Railroad Terminal in Liberty State Park and will pass the mayoral relay baton to raise awareness for the need of organ and tissue donors.

Sponsored by the First Family Pledge, with help from the Sharing Network, the Mayorthon has been traveling cross country from San Francisco to New York on behalf of people awaiting life-saving organ and tissue transplantations.

"I am honored to be with people who have benefitted from organ donation. They are proof that the gift of life is the most selfless contribution we can make since there are more people needing transplants. I encourage others to contemplate organ and tissue donation," said Mayor Schundler.
